I'm actually very unhappy. That was the place for whomever I was in Disney with and myself where we could unwind after a long day in the parks. I'm a bartender, so I felt at home. Club Motion, Mannequins, 8-Trax, Rock n Roll Beachclub were my stomping ground over there. Although I always wanted to venture into the Adventurer's Club and the Comedy Wharehouse, I never got to and I guess never will. Unless the rumors are true about Night Kingdom (or whatever it's name is this week) that we are getting the Adventurer's Club back in one form or another. The other rumor I heard is that we will have another "Pleasure Islandlike" place somewhere a little further off property. So I guess time will tell. But for now we can all be upset and hope the future will bring our night time playground back in another form.

I'm not happy about it. I don't really know how many more shops they can add there. I really enjoyed the Adventurer's Club and I was only able to go there once. I didn't get to check out the Comedy Warehouse at all. I wouldn't really have any interest in any of the dance clubs but I can see the appeal of them. I would have loved to have been able to go to PI back in the early 90's when every night was New Year's Eve. That would have been awesome.

If they were going to revamp anything I think it should be the WestSide. There is nothing over there that really appeals to me when I am at WDW. I am not going to Virgin to buy a CD and I would have to be bored out of my mind to even think about seeing a movie while I am on vacation.

I hope that when they are done with the island it is great and a can't miss. At least then I would more than happy to fork over some money to the stores that replaced Adultland at Walt Disney World.

I agree with you 100 %. I think I've been to Virgin in DTD once and that was cause my daughter wanted to see inside. There's really not too much on the Westside. Watching a movie is totally out of the question unless they have some kind of special Disney premeire while you're there.

The New Year's Eve Everynight was awesome. You'd be out by the main stage (which is no longer there) and there would usually be a live band playing. They would count down just like on Dec. 31st. and there would be fire works and confetti and all the fixings...it was a great time.

Hopefully something gets pumped into that area that will be enjoyable or else I think Mr. Iger will probably be getting more hate mail than he is right now about the Adventurer's Club.

It's a shame that Pleasure Island has closed. It was one of the few adult bastions in the World. There's really very slim pickin's now - Jellyrolls springs to mind.

I think the problem was when they opened it up to walk-thru traffic. People started to complain that there were folks drinking in front of their children and how it wasn't family-friendly. Hello, it's an island full of BARS. If you don't want your kids to be exposed to drinking - don't take them to places where there are bars!

I mean, really! :D

I absolutely adore Adventurers Club. I am sad to see it go but I know most of the clubs needed some updating that they were not getting. I think that when they shut the jazz club down to become Raglan's Road it was a sign of the times to come. Then they turned it 21 and up last year when it should have been made more family friendly.

I have so many great memories from PI. I totally love the Adventures Club. 8 Trax was so much fun as it let me relive my childhood.

As for Disney decision to close it, I can understand it. It has faltered in the past few years. When I was there in January for the Post Marathon Celebration the streetmosphere was dead.... nothing like it was in the 90's. Mannequins is very dated. The only places that had any life was 8 Trax and the Adventures club.

I still remember what an Imagineer told me that Walt had never envisioned Disney world to be a static place. It must always evolve and change.

It was an awesome place to go. I'm so so sorry you're not going to be able to experience it. Although you can go to the Boardwalk. They have a really cool dueling piano bar called Jelly Rolls. And then there's the Atlantic Dance Hall right next door too. They don't quite have the ambiance Pleasure Island did, but at least there's something. Hope you get to enjoy your 21st up there somewhere.

I think it's really really sad and I hope someday perhaps they will reopen it in some capacity. I believe it should have been built seperate from DTD instead of breaking up the two parts and forcing families who stay up late to walk through PI and all the clubs and drunk people to get to the other side, which is, I assume, one of the reasons it is closing(?).

Mainly sad because of the Adventurer's Club. It was WDI at their finest and a part of my heart is going with it ;-;
