my favorite resort is Pop Century. I have also stayed at the Contemporary years ago. For me deciding where to stay is based on one fact, transportation to the parks. Its either you can walk to park entrance, and then there is everything else. one nice thing about staying at the Contemporary, you can walk under 10 minutes to the Magic Kingdom main entrance.
I dont see spending $200 and up to stay at a resort that you still need to take a bus from to go to a theme park, and then it still makes more stops.
I want a bus that when I get on is a first stop, and the next stop is my destination. And that is the Pop Century.

well i've only been twice and stayed on property both times so i guess they're both my fav. :) last visit was pop century..stayed there like a month after it opened. as far as i'm concerned there is no point in spending tonnes of money on a room. i sleep and shower there and that's it. so as long as it's clean and on property, that's all i care about. ya the value resorts are further away from the parks but so what.
I love the theming at the value resorts! It's all so cute! Pop Century and All-Star Movies are my favorites of the values. I love the beauty of Animal Kingdom Lodge. (Plus, Boma is there. LOVE!) Old Key West and Saratoga Springs will always have a special place in my heart. So I guess I don't have just one favorite...OH! I can't forget Boardwalk! I love Boardwalk, too!
Pop Century is where I stay the most -- you gotta love that gigantic Big Wheel!! But I love, love, LOVE staying at the EPCOT resorts!! I have stayed at the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club and Boardwalk - and they truly are AWSOME! I will be staying at the Beach Club for MouseFest, and I can't wait! If I were richer, I'd stay at the Yacht Club every trip!
AKL for the themeing, animals, and Boma!. SSR for the atmosphere and closeness to DTD (not to wild about the room layout though). All time fav however is WL - love the themeing, atmosphere, etc!
Animal Kingdom Lodge! Its our home resort for DVC and the original reason we bought in. We honeymooned there in 2004 so we have a huge emotional attachment to it too.
My second favorite is Port Orleans French Quarter. Love the themeing, the boat to Downtown Disney, walking along the river between there and Riverside.
This last year because of DVC we've stayed 3 times at Beach Club. Its a new favorite because of Stormalong Bay and we love the walk from there to Epcot and MGM.
I've only stayed in two resorts (so far!). I've stayed at Pop Century and Animal Kingdom Lodge and enjoyed them both! I don't think I could pick a favorite between the two.
This year will be our first visit to WDW and we are staying at POP so it is really nice to read all the feedback on POP being the favorite Disney Resort. We travel to DLR (Disneyland Resort) annually as we live in California. We love California Grand but for value I really like Paradise Pier Resort. We have stayed in non Disney Resorts and just have not enjoyed the experience so now we always stay at a Disney Resort.
My favorite of all time is the Polynesian - I love the tropical feeling and atmosphere there. Plus, you can't beat being on the monorail! I've also always liked Port Orleans Riverside - nice relaxing atmosphere along the water. After joining DVC, we've started staying at some others and my new favorites are Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge. The Polynesian will always be my #1 though!
I am a fan of Pop Century. We first stayed there during their Grand Opening year in 2004 and fell in love with it. Yes it can be busy, noisy and crowded, but I think that's the fun of it. There is life here and it's not stuffy it's just fun. We've stayed there in 04,06, and in 08.
In 2004 we stayed in the 50's, in 2006 we stayed in the 90's and in 2008 we stayed in the 70's. I keep hoping they open the classic years across the lake, but am sad to see it sitting empty everytime we go. I would love to stay in a family suite and pop.
This Dec will be our 5th time in our favorite place, a cabin at Fort Wilderness. For peace and quiet, wonderful cast members, a full kitchen, all the comforts of home with mousekeeping. What is not to love.
