DisFriends

Hi DVC DisFriends!! Looking for some information....We received an email inviting us to attend the "Vacation As You Wish" event at the Contemporary Resort while on vacation at the end of the month. Since it will just be us two, we decided to go. My question is has anyone ever attended one of these events? It sounds fun but we don't really want to feel pressured to buy into DVC at that time. It is our dream to join but now would not be the best time. What do you think?

I say you guys should go! While I haven't been to this new Vacation As You Wish event, I would imagine that it would be very similar to the Grand Opening event we went to when Doorway To Dreams opened up in IL. There was NO pressure at all to buy in! I think DVC has specifically always made it one of their biggest goals is to be no pressure.

We sat through a session that I would call informational, they basically explained all things DVC and explained all the travel possibilities and the benefits to buying in. And then at the end it was like - want to talk about this some more, come see us and we'll set you up with a guide to discuss further. And even once we knew we were buying in we like specially had to keep saying YES SIGN US UP! :) And after we signed up I saw plenty of people who left without asking for more info and no one bothered them or anything.

So overall if you feel like you have time during your trip to spare - go for it! If you think you'll be pressed for time during the trip there will always be the grand opening of your Doorway To Dreams to look forward to soon too! :) And either way just think of it as reasearch for some day when you maybe will be ready for DVC!

Also I believe Jill here in the DVC group said she was signed up for Vacation As You Wish in Boston. Maybe she'll have more info about this current event!

You should go and enjoy the event! Don't worry about feeling pressure DVC is does not do business that way. Trust me. Share your pictures when you come back. :-)

I agree with all the above posters. I've been to a LOT of timeshare presentations, and DVC is definitely the least pressured of them all. Of course, at the end of the presentation, our vacation guide wanted to hear any questions we had, as well as what was holding us back, but he applied absolutely none of the usual high-pressure techniques. (The "I can only offer you this deal if you buy today" stuff.) He was more than happy to give us information to take with us, along with his direct phone number. I think Disney takes the "we know we have something great here, but we're not going to push you into it" approach. I hope you have a similarly pleasant experience! And I hope you'll someday be able to make that dream come true and join the DVC family, because it really is wonderful!! :-)
