"You're from Joisey? I'M from Joisey! What exit?
I can't even remember what comic's joke that is, and I'm not even from "Joisey". It just popped into my head because I just drove tonight from the Yacht Club in Orlando to the Lois Avenue exit off 275 in Tampa. As I was traveling along I-4, I was wondering how many of you I passed. I know, I should have waved! LOL
Long Island has a TON of parkways that all either go north/south or east/west. You can't get lost, and you can get anywhere very quickly. And when I say "parkway" I mean "road with no traffic control and no cross streets, with numbered exists". Down here in Lee County Florida, they think a "parkway" is a three land highway with traffic signals.
But on Long Island, despite having SO many parkways with numbered exits, we never defined ourselves by our exit number. I think that is because there is no "the" parkway. There's a bunch of them, so exit numbers would be sort of meaningless. You'd still have to ask what parkway.
Down here in Florida, I live really close to I-75. I also live pretty much equidistant from two different exits. So if I am heading north, I will use exit 138, but if I am heading south I will use exit 136. I do not know what became of exit 137. It's a mystery!
So, who lives near an exit? What road? Did I pass you tonight as I made my way across I-4? Maybe we could do a map thing ....
