how do you explain your love of disney to others??????

hi everyone..... i have a question! how do you explain your love of Disney to other people who either dont have the same feelings or have never been?

I love traveling all over the world and have been lucky enough to go to a lot of places. some i would go back to and others i wouldnt. But there is just something about Fla that makes me want to go back over and over again..... now, if i travel to the east coast, carabean or bahamas, i HAVE to include at least 2 weeks in Fla as well......

im sure i dont need to explain this feeling to anyone on here, however i still havent managed to put them into words yet and get them over to the 'unconverted'!!!!!

i even set up a group on facebook for disney lovers and was actually asked if i was a child molester.....

So how do you guys do it?
how do you convey your love of disney to others????

i look forward to hearing your replies!!!!!! :)

Generally if I'm trying to explain to someone why my husband and I try to get to WDW about 3 times a year I tell them about the quality of the hotels (especially now that we've gone DVC!), how much we love the restaurants, the endless activities, how even going 3 times a year there is always something new to do every time we go and most importantly that it is a total escape from reality for us. For those days we are at WDW all our other cares in the world just disappear.

We love the rides and attractions as well but they're just one part of the whole experience. And people who don't get it are usually focused in their head on "How many times can two grown adults really ride It's A Small World?" So I generally don't add much about that.

And if someone persists beyond that...I leave it at that. People either get it or they don't! And that's fine. I used to let it bug me way more than I do now!

Which of course is the beauty of DisFriends! Now that I can check in here at DisFriends every day it doesn't matter to me if friends and family get it or not (some do, some don't) because I know everyone here feels just like I do. And its the nicest group of people you could ever hope to meet! :)

Most people don't get it, even family doesn't get it. I think because most people think that it's just a huge amusement park with carnival type rides!! But they never seem to have a problem with our ski trip every year or when we go boating in the 1000 Islands! Just Disney trips. To each their own, I don't comment on their vacation spots, if you can't say something nice....

Im 33 and have a fantastic Mickey Tattoo that I got when I was 18 and still am in love with.... HA Dislovers get it and the rest never will.... I am glad my DH and Kids share the love..........
That just means I never have to share my DVC with the rest.... :)

I don't even try to explain it any more. My co-workers and non-Disney friends just don't get it and probably never will.

I've almost given up trying to explain. My boss loves to tease me about my office which has something Disney everywhere you look. He thinks it's funny. I find it insulting (but maybe I'm just misreading his intent). Every now and again I get to throw in an example of how Disney's attention to quality entertainment and customer service is a lot of things -- a role model, a comforting place to be, etc. -- but I know he's never going to get it. Most people don't. That's okay with me.... makes the parks less crowded ;-)

I'm with you guys. I've stopped tryin to explain my love of Disney with my co-workers, family and some friends. They just don't get the magic of the World. My office and home are both decorated Disney-style and I love it.......that's all that matters to both my husband and me. We try to make it over to Disney at least once a month, in fact, I'm going to Downtown Disney tomorrow to check out the new store!!! I can't wait to go but when we leave it seems I'm leaving my best friend behind. But on the other hand, I have my Disfriends!!! You guys for the best, I love hearing your stories and adventures....most of all, you guys make this site such a magic place to visit daily.

That's a great question, I'm the only Disney nut in my family, well my dad is too!, everybody ask me why I love Disney so much, I even have awhole room dedicated to Disney with memorabilia stuff and I'm 26, so they ask me and I try to tell them that is something that you have to experiment yourself with a trip to one of the parks and see the attention to details, cast member costumes, the architecture, even the names of the stores are perfect for the "land" that is located, and all of those little things makes Disney parks so unique and magical that makes, at least to me to come back and just forget about the real life.....

I have given up trying to show, explain or other wise convert others to the happy side. My family and friends need not ask where we will be vacationing. It's always Disney. I feel sorry for those who don't get it. They really are missing out on something so wonderful!
Copied from my page:
There is something about Disney you really can't put into words. It's not just about the thrill of the rides, the awe of Wishes, or the impeccable service of the cast members. It's a feeling only a true Disney fan carries with them as they go throughout their day. It's a love of something so special that if you don't get it, you never will.
