I've had an Idea to start a script for a movie on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. The basic storyline of the ride is about a young New Orleans couple who just got married. the man is a wealthy seaman, and his wife is a beautiful southern bell. As he leaves for another voyage. He tells his wife to not go into the attic. As months pass, she continues to grow curious. She finally goes into the attic only to realize that he's a bloodthirsty pirate. When he returns, she confronts him, throws her ring out the window. Afraid of being caught by the authorities, he strangles her out of anger and desperation. He suddenly realizes that he just killed his one and only true love, so he goes out, find the ring, and puts it on her corpse. A few months later, he ends up hanging himself in the foyer of his white mansion after constanly seeing his bride in her white wedding gown.
Now, the question is, how do I start??? Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you, MG, I would really love to see this put into production. I think it would turn out to be a great film, and outdo the one they already made.

Yea!!!! If it was really done well, and I mean the sets, and places filmed were genuine, it could be amazing. I was thinking set around the same time as POTC. Since hey, both attractions are in the same land, and also, the husband (Master Gracey) turns out to be a pirate.

Since it's the only haunted mansion film made, it's kind of a guilty pleasure movie for me. LOL But yes, it could've been MUCH better. I'd say make it borderline scary because I've always thought the haunted mansion movie should be more like return of the living dead, comedic, but that the haunts MEAN BUSINESS!! LOL

^^ That's a really good idea!!! I have had a hard time figuring out how to write this. And, since the last movie really sucked, I want to write a good enough script/story that I could possibly pitch it to Disney. I know Disney is family oriented, but really, they didn't do to well with the Eddie Murphy film.

You probably should start w/ a future(21st century) family living in the house and then rewind. ie, the family living in the house really should be able to see the bride in different parts of the house(more probable that the kids would always see her and not the parents to develop a foreshadowing plot), always woefully pointing at something the new family can't see. The premise of the movie would be for the family to find out exactly why the southern belle is haunting the house and to uncover the age old secret that way. Just a thought.
